Masashi Kishimoto could soon be retiring from being a mangaka as news revealed in a magazine showing that after the latest Naruto movie, Boruto: Naruto the Movie, has aired, Masashi Kishimoto “won’t draw anything further”. Kishimoto also mentions that for the first time for a movie, he has written the entire script by himself, designed the characters and refined the story even further.
The English translation from the magazine article reveals:
The Boruto Movie, for the first time everything begins, starting with original characters. That is to say, it’s an original work of the author, me [Kishimoto], with everything existing completely and only inside my head. For the first time in the 11th Naruto movie I wrote the entire script by myself, devised the character designs, refining them until I was satisfied, than for the sake of perfection requested that the staff to refine them further. When serialization ended, immediately all the time I used to spend on the manga was poured into the movie. In truth this is the Naruto film I really wanted to make. One last word….after this I won’t draw anything further.
The story has not been fully confirmed, so until then please do take this story with a grain of salt. A lot of people agree with the fact that after 710 chapters, 11 movies, and extra art and concept for games and anime fillers, you can’t blame Kishimoto for taking a break.
On the other hand, others agree that after being satisfied with how well Naruto has gone, he would possibly like to pursue his career as a mangaka in another capacity, therefore continue drawing but focus on something else.
Nevertheless, what do you think? From this, and the news that has been quickly popping up, is Kishimoto’s retiring a good or bad thing, and after a long 15 years, I believe he’s made enough money to live for the rest of his life now. Go on and comment down below telling me what you think.

At least he got to write the last movie how he wants to before retiring. I think Naruto did get better as time went on, although calling them Ninjas seems out of place now, sense they became so powerful as the series progressed, bit still I did enjoy it.

Totally agree with your Josephia, he’s provided a great 15 years full of awesome stories, movies and even games. I appreciate that, I’d like to see what he goes on to do next, interestignly I’ve heard that he’d like to go into more sci-fi kind of stuff, but that is if he decides to move onto something else.

Not that I underestimate Kishimoto, but what if he also couldn’t think of another concept that would be better than Naruto? Naruto’s universe was fleshed out really well and the manga enjoyed immense popularity that it will forever remain in anime fandom’s minds (regardless of whether they like/hate it–the point is everyone has heard or known of it).
And it’s good for him to take a break. Drawing and storytelling in the manga form for him is a passion, and it must have taken a lot of his time and energy (mental and physical) to get things done week by week. My utmost respects to a dedicated mangaka. He deserves some rest and should enjoy his vacation by unwinding.

Totally agree, he’s spent years improving upon Naruto and Naruto world, the fact here is that after ending the main series is that he’ll have to come up with an even awesome story. On top of this, Ive heard that he’ll be working on some sort of SciFi story if he decides to not actually retire.

Oh, that’s cool! It’s not really a wonder if Kishimoto tries sci-fi stories. He has the knack for explaining and building his story’s universe using a scientific-like approach, e.g. the almost convincing medical aspect of chakra, etc.

How can someone lose all his talent in like… a day? You can’t, but you know what you can lose in a day? A guy that you pay to draw Naruto for you, and be quiet, so you can earn all the fame, because there ARE people that HATE fame, and would LOVE to publish something, without having fans. I can just imagine that someone like that, did all the actual work, and Shitimoto was just such a jerk, that the guy quit right before Naruto ended, and suddenly Shiti had to do the stuff by himself. That’s why Naruto usually looks like it’s made by a decent artist, but the end just looks like it’s made by some college kid…

Dragon Ball is a series for all type of people, after a 18 year wait, I think it’s the best time to learn again why DB is such a great series and why it will always be with us. Compared to Naruto, itll be hard for it to compare unless it carrys on the lives of the kids somehow.

The powerlevels that make no sense? The physics that behave NOWHERE like in the old show, not even close to normal DB. When in normal DB goku, i don’t know… flipped over a car, it was like… “Omg, he is so strong” and then, booom! “Oh damn, that actually has consequences???”
And in the New one, you see Goku catching a vehicle, that’s like… falling at max speed, and he just lets it CRASH INTO HIS HAND! It’s like… “Shouldn’t there be something happening? A 1 billion ton vehicle, just fell onto goku’s outstretched hand…” There is NO way that everything just stops, no matter how strong goku is, the vehicle would be ripped apart, but no, not even the steeringwheel is broken, which… “whoever the hell that is supposed to be” (Goten? Because this guy looks WAAAAY younger then Goten. Last time he looked like young trunks, now he looks like… well… the youngest saiyan i have ever seen besides baby goku…)

The villain is idiotic, because we have already seen his future and know that he is just some… god in training. We already know when he will be “defeated”, we already know that Goku can’t get stronger until he becomes the Saiyan God… The movie just spoilered WAY too much stuff. It’s a completely retarded idea, to start the new series BEFORE the movie… If it would play AFTER the movie, it would be perfectly fine… They even SAID that Bills (or however people call him THIS day…) will return when he is not a noob anymore…
Imagine the part where Freezer comes to Earth, would have been a movie that you saw BEFORE Namek… wouldn’t that have ruined each and every dramatic surprise? And then would you not be wondering why the hell his Father never showed up, for example?
It seems to be impossible to make good Manga / Anime these days. Too many people just throw their work away for some money. Happened to NGE, Naruto, and also Dragon Ball, even though, in the last case i don’t care. DB and DBZ were awesome, and that’s it. Don’t care about whatever stupid universe they throw at us now. They finished their main stories, and they are free to do whatever they want. Make a video of Goku peeing over all his friends, gather the Dragonballs, and wish for the world to be a massive boner… Do it, but don’t expect ANY of the series fans, to return for THIS! If THIS is what you give us after you “return”, you don’t need to return at all, saves you a LOT of hate…

I’m glad he’s retiring; Naruto used to be absolutely amazing and almost perfect! It was by far one of the best series ever!But fans pandering and the failure of the mini series, which has failed to satisfy or answer any questions left by the original series. The work became sloppy with nothing but meaningless melodrama and dysfunctional romances very few wanted or even understood. He needs a deserving break for the great portion of Naruto (up to the 4th war), for the rest, retire.

I just hope other artists will realize, that they carry a responsibility, when another one gets thrown into the insane asylum, because he can’t handle the terror of a million haters. Don’t sell out your product. If NOTHING gets resolved AT ALL, i’d say it started going wrong at episode 1.
Every big thing that doesnt get resolved ruins the whole manga.
For example one of the biggest errors was, that when the show got stupid, dumbass kishi promised us that either Naruto or Sasuke will die in a big Fight. Sasuke being alive and well, even having a damn child in the end, is massively retarded. He should be dead! Damn lying scumbag kishimoto…
Another big thing is the look of the adult characters… The manga told us for 5billion chapters Naruto = Jiraya, Sasuke = Orochimaru and Sakura = Tsunade… Kishi even made tons of adult characters before… WHY in gods name do ONLY those 3, look completely retarded and NOTHING like their counterparts?
Sakura is UNBELIEVABLY ugly, and that thing on her face makes her look like a clown, unlike Tsunade, who looks “massive”ly awesome.
