Fairy Tail 187 (Season 2 Episode 12) shows that whatever Future Lucy has mentioned may not be fully true, from what she has said it’s been found out that she has lied to her friends, on top of which Rogue has been taken over by Shadow who has given him some power to fight and kill Gajeel! From what we see Gajeel has managed to absorb and taken in Shadow’s powers to which he quickly develops his Iron Shadow Dragon abilities. 

Fairy Tail 187 begins as Lucy wakes up, while Rogue tells Gajeel that he’s not as strong as Natsu. Once Lucy wakes up, we learn from Future Lucy that there are a total of 10,000 dragons approaching. She has come to change this terrible future so it doesn’t happen. The city will burn and the castle will fall. Darton and Hisui have to wait and see the results of the games.

Natsu and Happy are both freaking out, Natsu quickly gets ready to which Future Lucy didn’t expect for them to believe her so quickly, Natsu mentions that she is their Lucy and that she is trustworthy. Carla looks into her own visions to ask Future Lucy what happened to them, to which it seems that they had all died.

She mentions that she had used the Eclipse to come back a few days, she had no idea how to use it. She came back on the 4th of July. The plan to go and kill Zeref was fake. Arcadios watching from the side notices that Future Lucy is the one that talked to Hisui. She has also talked to Jellal to which they should be developing a strategy.

She hasn’t come with any answers, we see Arcadios chatting with Hisui as they talk about Eclipse 2 about using the power stored in Eclipse to blast all of the Dragons that do come all at once. Arcadios also figures out that what Lucy had said about getting here on that date is a lie. Natsu tells her that it will all be fine, they thank her and they will change the future.

Jellal, Ultear and Meredy talk about what Future Lucy had mentioned doesn’t seem to add up, thus it could all be a lie, could her existence be a lie or something. We go to Gajeel and Rogue’s match where we see that Rogue understands why Gajeel joined Fairy Tail, he mentioned that he looked up to Phantom Lord as well as Gajeel, he wanted to join it.

However when they lost, they disbanded and he joined the hated Fairy Tail. He mentions that he understands that it’s because he found friends and such to which he stayed, they’re his comrades. No one in Sabertooth feels this way, to which Gajeel tells Rogue that he has his friend, referring to Frosch who is his nakama. He realises this and smiles.

However seconds later we hear a voice, telling and convincing Rogue to use his powers to defeat and kill Gajeel. Rogue is trying to find out where this person is, we find out that it’s his Shadow! He looks upon it to which Shadow then gives Rogue some of his power. We go to where Future Lucy is to which they’re quickly chased down by a number of soldiers.

Yukino and Arcadios are both missing to which Mirajane goes to find out. Natsu, Loki, Wendy and the others begin to fight back. Shadow consumes Rogue to which he’s taken over, Gajeel is hit back as Shadow takes him over. Gajeel is hit back and forth to which Gajeel can’t seem to get a hit on Shadow anymore.

Mavis also notices that there is some kind of evil magic possessing Rogue, which she has never felt before. Natsu and the others also keep on fighting the soldiers. Magic unit arrive with their strongest also getting there. He’s quickly defeated by Natsu.

Gajeel is quickly defeated by Rogue to which he begins to get consumed in the Shadow. Frosch also goes towards Shadow to which he could try something. Gajeel remembers if Natsu can do it, he could also consume the magic around him.

Gajeel consumes the Shadow magic around him to which he finds out that he’s compatible to which he begins to tell Shadow that Rogue is not his name, it’s Raios, to which he remembers that he feared Gajeel, he didn’t idolize him. That is why he’ll show him how terrifying he is. Gajeel enables his Iron Shadow Dragon Mode! Fairy Tail 187 ends here.

A fantastic chapter as we finally see Gajeel obtaining his second power to compliment his Iron Dragon Slayer Magic, it should be good to see his new power and his new moves as he fights Shadow in Rogue’s body. Can’t wait for next week’s Fairy Tail 188, titled “Extreme Lightning”, when we continue on with the battle as well as the battle between Jura, Laxus and Orga.
