Motoko Kusanagi, otherwise known as Major, is known by her abilities as a cyborg. She is employed as the leader of the Public Security Section 9 and has shown her abilities as an agent. I have yet to check out this awesome series, I have heard a lot of great stuff, and as per the hype surrounding the latest anime movie, I may soon actually begin this show, if you watch it or have heard good things, let me know.

I’m a big fan of Motoko. I don’t know if I’m correct, but I believe the 1995 movie and the anime have different plots about her. The movie, which i believe the Hollywood version is about, has Motoko as a full cyborg. While the anime has Motoko as a human cyborg hybrid that works for the government. I’m kinda skeptical about the Hollywood version. I’m still going to see it to give in opinion.

I’d love to see what you think, I might not watch it in the cinema, but I’ll wait till its on the small screen. I’ll see how it is then. Although it looks really good, but then again trailers only pick the best bits.

I’d love to see you review the movie just to see it. Sense you haven’t seen the animated movie or the anime, you kinda have an unbiased opinion going in to watch the Hollywood version. I’ll try to be as far as possible when I see it. I haven’t seen any of the trailers because I don’t want to be spoiled when I watch it. I actually have a question about the Hollywood version that has caused quite the controversy. Do you believe it was right for Hollywood to cast Scarlet Johansson as Motoko? Some people say it’s “white washing” while others say it’s so they could promote the movie with a named actress that people know.

I might do one if I see it hah, might be a while till then though. Nevertheless, from the trailers, it looks really good. The futuristic looks and feel seems great, plus Scarlett is awesome.
Ghost in the shell is known by a lot of people, I don’t think they were intentionally doing it but I think it would have been better for them to cast someone who is Japanese. Although, they also have a valid argument in that they’d want to promote the movie further with relevant characters.
TBH, I think Scarlett is a perfect fit, she is gorgeous and likeable, plus great with action scenes as seen with the Marvel films.
I think there are two answers to this, I don’t really want to fall to either side because both have their positives and negatives.

Having just traversed the entire franchise of Ghost in the Shell, I fell in love with every incarnation of the cool and calculating Major. This is why I feel that no matter how much the live action may shake things up, I’ll still enjoy seeing another face to the many interpretations of Section 9’s strongest. Neat art!
