Fairy Tail 179 gets underway by which Rufus and Gray both go head to head against each other, to which at every attempt from Gray, Rufus has a better trick up his sleeve, whilst at the same time Natsu and the others are trapped in the Hell Palace. Gray goes on ahead to explain that his feelings are stronger than his strength and thus this allows him to defeat Rufus using his complex Ice Make. 

Fairy Tail 179 begins as Gray goes towards Rufus in order to fight him. He gets there and they talk on how he’s going to be his opponent. Everyone cheers for their battle. Molding Magic vs Molding Magic. Mavis doesn’t seem to be able to predict who might win, however he has to win in order to stop Sabertooth.

Mavis was talking to the others in which Rufus was picked by Gray to fight, he exclusively talked to Mavis in order for him to fight him, he doesn’t care about the odds, all he wants is to protect everyone and thus decided to let him. Gray gets ready to attack when Rufus dodges and memorizes two of his attacks.

He is able to use this in order to replicate others magic, he uses Orga’s magic to get a hit on Gray. He then brings out a number of tornadoes where, Gray tries to defend but fails. Juvia watches on but only wishes for him to not give up, that is why she isn’t going to go a help him.

Gray gets up to which Rufus begins to read different books about ancient magic to which he quickly analyses and launches on Gray himself. The first is a Ice magic whereby he makes ice soldiers to his use, they attack Gray and bring him down. Gray tries to attack but fails.

Rufus then does another combination whereby he brings out something else to which is completely pushes Gray back with the power the creation had. Rufus reads on to Gray brings out a lot of Ice, however Gray is attacked by a type of coloured flames. Rufus tells him that he’ll never be able to beat him.

Mavis had told Gray that it would be a bad match, there is no clear strategy, she is depending on his feelings to win. In the Hell Palace, the others are trying to find a way out but cannot, they find a few skulls around. Natsu gets fired up to get out, however seconds later they can’t seem to find a way out.

However Happy seems to have thought of a way to get out, he mentions that the soldiers must be keeping watch, if they try and get the soldiers there by using Mirajane and Lucy and their bodies, they can get the get them to come in whilst they use the way to get out.

There was a journal which Lily reads which mentions that the skull was thinking about Mirajane whilst he died. Mirajane gets ready to support and gets half naked, Lucy also strips, they begin to pose while they wait for the others to watch and come in, it could be pointless if no one is watching.

Gray keeps on getting beat down, Rufus even puts up a force over Gray to which it pushes Gray down with a large amount of Gravity. Rufus seems to just be playing with Gray. Gray begins to get up and still move, Gray mentions that all his memories have come a long way to which he’s used in order to fight.

He even gets a message from Natsu saying to stop playing. Gray then uses his Ice to push Rufus back, Gray gets ready to begin his new power to which he will be driven to fight till the end with all his might and power. Gray takes his shirt off and gets serious. Gray gets ready to unleash his magic.

Ice Make, Unlimited is mentioned to which Gray gets a large amount of things out and sorts them out in a circle to which even Rufus is unable to remember and thus is quickly attacked, he’s trapped in ice. Rufus uses his fire and uses it to attack Gray, however he quickly escapes from it and mentions that he’s felt hotter flames. He uses his Ice bringer to knock Rufus out.

Lucy and the others are still trapped in the Hell Palace, as thought no one else is watching, a flower seem to have grown out of nowhere where it silently watches them walk on from far, however Lucy notices something when Fairy Tail 179 ends.

A great episode, with lots of awesome action, and can’t wait for next week’s Fairy Tail 180, titled “Hungry Wolf Knights”, when we see Natsu and the others go up against the Hungry Wolf Knight to which we know something will go down.
