Fairy Tail 178 shows Mavis’ true colours as she is revealed to be a great tactician while she was still alive, she predicts and calculates what the fights are going turn out to be, we also learn that after Natsu helps Lucy’s escape, they falls into the Hell Prison. We find out who the princess is and who the person is who put them in the prison, this being Hisui E. Fiore. 

Fairy Tail 178 begins as everyone gets ready for battle, we learn the guilds places when the battle is nearly activates. Natsu and the others also come up with a plan to enter the castle. We learn the rules whereby the teams have a leader and the members also get involved, while the leader being worth five points others are only one.

Fairy Tail point out that they will win this. The battle begins whereby they use the whole town as the field to play.  Most seem to have split up while others are in a party and others in a three man cell. Rufus notices that Fairy Tail have not yet moved. They seem to have their eyes closed and just stood still.

No one seems to know what is going on. Novali is quickly taken down first, then two members from Mermaid Heel are next. Fairy Tail are still stood still. Two more members from Quatro Puppy ar taken out. Bacchus appears however Sting quickly takes him out, Kagura also appears however Sting quickly disappears as Minerva had told him to let Kagura fight and drain her magic.

Millianna gets Rocker, it seems that Quatro Puppy have been taken out, from which Fairy Tail are still waiting there. We see Mavis talk whereby she mentions that they’ve been waiting for something to which Mavis has been calculating things and thus giving them orders.

They all open their eyes and get ready to finally fight, this is her war whereby she will decide on Fairy Star, to which she plans on winning. Two soldiers are faced by Natsu and Wendy as they’ve gotten captured, they’re taken to the dungeon, they’re all in there.

Hisui mentions that she is going to initiate Eclipse 2 Project. Mavis mentions that she will guide them to getting most points and getting the best targets. She’s taken into account Rufus and how he’ll make a move. He launches his technique whereby he sends Stars to everyone, they all jump hitting none and Laxus just blocks it.

He’s shocked and Mavis calculates what he’s going to do next. Mavis encounters Jenny and quickly takes her out, Gajeel then encounters two members from Blue Pegasus, to which a third escapes however Gray takes them out. Mavis gives more orders to go to their position.

Makarov remembers long ago that Mavis has a nickname of “Fairy Tactician”. Ichiya is then taken out by Jura to which they gain five points. Cheria also gains a point for Lamia scale. Mavis is asked how she will deal with Jura as he’s strong. She at this point doesn’t know. Lucy is quickly helped out by Natsu and the others.

She is brought out to which she then changes however somehow the ground they walk on escapes them and they fall. We see Hisui talk to them whereby they’re introduced to the Hell Palace where they won’t be able to escapes. From the expression on Hisui’s face it seems that she regrets this decision. Gray reaches Rufus to which we’re about to begin their final match. Fairy Tail 178 ends here.

A really good episode with lots and lots of good stuff, especially seeing Fairy Tail and it’s tactician battle through some of the people available. Now it’s time to carry on through to Fairy Tail 179, titled “Gray vs Rufus!”, whereby we’ll see the battle continue with Gray.
