How are Gray and Silver Connected? – Fairy Tail 366

Fairy Tail 366 see’s that there is a definite connection between Gray and Silver. It’s not yet known to how they are in fact connected and the relationship they share. A lot of fans especially have come up with some very creative and logical theories to what they think may be the explanation of why it has happened. Here are some of what many fans already think: 

  1. Silver is Gray’s father. This being the most popular theory to what Gray and Silver’s relationship is. Kyouka had mentioned that she was surprised to see Silver in his human form, this could refer to Silver being adopted by Tartarus just like Mirajane is at this point, she is being converted and made into a helper. Silver may have gone through the same thing and developed a demon in which he’s able to change. Gray was able to channel the Ice Magic which covered the Sun Village, being family helped him do so.
  2. Gray still being Silver’s son. We saw when we got introduced to Silver in Fairy Tail 353 that Silver stood in front of a grave in a village covered in ice. It was most likely to be someone like his wife (Gray’s mother). He visited it to remember how Gray was lost or that they had to leave him.
  3. Another possibly explanation of why they’re father and son could be that they actually do look alike, have the same mage power of controlling ice. Gray’s parents could have been attacked causing both of them to die. However the Demons saw potential in him and thus were able to take him in and change him to their image. We still see the real Silver when he first visited his possibly wife and Gray’s mother. The explanation here suggests everything except for why Silver had acted the way he did when Gray’s name was mentioned.
  4. The previous arc we got to see a few new things, especially time travelling people from the future, this included Lucy and Shadow (Rogue). We could always look at this and think that Silver and Gray are the same people and that he traveled from the future to this past. My personal theory on this could be that Juvia had died in his future because of some fault he had which he regrets, thus he became a Demon in that time. He discovered a way to prevent it and time traveled. When Natsu mentioned Gray, he quickly tells him that he hates that name, this could reflect the past and that he doesn’t want to remember it.
  5. Both Silver and Gray look very similar, however it could also mean that both of them could be siblings, brothers in fact. There isn’t much pointing to this theory but it is still one that we must consider. I’m sure Gray considers Lyon as his brother.
  6. It was mentioned previously that as there are currently two worlds, there could be a third. Earthland, Edolas and the Demon world being the third. And from this Demon world, Silver is the Gray of that world.
  7. Could Silver be the Deliora in disguise as a human, Tartarus went looking for Demon’s already living on Earth when they found Deliora and melted the ice. Gave Deliora purpose, Silver remembers Ur’s memories and hates him for what he did.
  8. Many are also mentioning that Gray is somehow supposed to be Silver’s clone. Since Gray did not have the ability to transform into Demon he was left until Ur found him.

    I saw a fan art done ages ago, which clearly shows Ur and Silver. Could this mean that the grave Silver first visited in Fairy Tail 353 was in fact Ur, meaning that Silver and Ur may have been lovers at some point. Ultimately Silver blames her death on Gray and he doesn’t want to hear his name. But again, why would Natsu even mention Gray’s name in front of Silver when they only share the same type of magic.

    i just thought of something, maybe silver could possibly be the brother of ur (or ul however its pronounce) and he blames gray for her death

        At this point I think Silver smells similar to gray, not exactly. That’s why you’re theory of Ur and Silver being brother are still possible. The grave he first visited could be Ur, is this what you also think?

    no, natsu recognized Grays scent from silver, thats why he asked silver about gray

      if u remember there was a different timeline that almost all fairytail memebers died after the grand magic games, then it was change, to GRAY died but ultear saved gray by sacrificing her own life.,, its like due to many people travels back in time there was a time space distortion… that create or lead that SILVER or GRAY there in that position,

    I think that Silver is Grey from the future, 7 years in the future and he returned back to save them. How? I dont know, either that or he is from the alter univers from where Jallel was. But if he is the same scent, he is the same person.

    i have some wild theory that silver is juvia and grays son from the future and the grave he was standing at was either gray or juvias and he went back in time to make sure his parents didnt die… or something like that but this theory is most likely incorrect

    well guys what i thnik is silver is grays father i could be wrong but any possibilities could be spot on i’m only hoping its not these two theories.number 1. silver is grays son from the future who traveled through time in the past. or 2.silver could possibly be grays future self traveling back in time. any one of those theories i would highly disagree with…….

    can I ask something?? Even if Silver is Gray’s father … why would he say something like ” Of all people .. Natsu ” on chapter 368 page 12..
    I mean if he is Gray’s father.. How does he know Natsu??

    And if Silver is Gray himself from the future… Why was it mentioned in the previous manga chapter by cobra… that they all are actually demons from the book of Zeref..
    And even if Silver is Ul’s lover or Gray’s sibling.. The same question arises again!! How does he know Natsu??

    Well hell idk possibly their could be a connection between demons and humans themselves.I’m really positive silver is grays father.Truth be Told silver might’ve known natsu from another time……the question arises lol!??!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!Wtf?!?!?!

    In Time the puzzles will be put together so until then lets jsut wait and see i’m dying to know how gray and silver are connected ….But yah the question arises WTF?!?!?!?!? lol i know this may sound weird but i knew that point from before but i refused to believe how silver knew natsu.

    Their could be a story behind natsu and silver or gray you never know its a surprise lol but i’m guessing that silver is definately grays father and thoses who dont agree with me The Hell with you trlolollololololol but if i am wrong dont start harassing me on this page about it :P…..so yah i refuse to believ any other of the possibilities silver is grays father and thats that.

    Plus if u guys havent noticed the scar on grays forehead and silvers forehead dont look the same so it cant be future gray aint possible.

    As for me, i think silver is Ul’s husband. Maybe he left to found a cure for ultear because of high power but when he back to their home Ul was nowhere to found and later he discover that Ultear was dead as said to Ul and Ul was killed because of deliora. And the face which seald by 3 council member. I bet thats jellal, ultear and whoever. As the demons said only the key of jellal left, basically silver found out that ultear die. And all of thats bec of gray. As for natsu we all know zeref like natsu a lot and natsu is the son of igneel who try to defeat their boss. Maybe maybe but i wish that ultear came back i like her.

      And the ice magic of gray came from Ul ryt basically its ul magic thats why its familiar. As far as i remember gray know his mother and father who died bec of the attacked.

    well i sorta think that Silver being Gray’s father is more a possibility cux in chap 374 Keith says to Gray that “you are Silver’s….” Silver’s what??? we still dnt knw bt it can’t be Silver’s past form or Silver’s family killer (dat jst sounds weird) so Silver’s son seems lyk da only thing making sense.

      but in the anime in episode 15 in grays flashback abot ul you see him putting flowers on his mom and dads grave so its not possible for silver being his dad or brother , and if he was grays future self , on the fairy tail wiki wouldn’t it say in the catagoery of counterpart wouldn’t it say silver( future self) it doesn’t say tht so its really confusing how he is realated to gray as for being uls husband How does he know natsu ? but there is a answer to tht you see zeref wanted natsu to kill him so thts probably how but then again why does he smell like gray , as you can see its very confusing to figure out how silver is related to gray

    There’s no way Silver is Gray’s father… there’s too many holes. First of all, Gray learned Ice magic from Ur; his father and mother were presumed to be dead after Deliora attacked Gray’s town. Although their parents were never mentioned or described by Gray, Gray has no knowledge of ice magic prior to that otherwise he would have said something to Ur and see if she had any connection with his family.

    Second, how the hell would Silver know Natsu’s name if he really is Gray’s dad? In one of the chapters Silver says “Natsu of all people,” meaning Silver knows who Natsu is and is flustered at the fact that Natsu could smell him and thought he smelled a lot like Gray.

    This is gonna sound stupid but this is more likely to be true than Silver being Gray’s dad; Silver is just Gray in the future. It would explain the extremely powerful ice magic Silver uses as Gray inherited knowledge of Ice Creation from Ur, not his parents. Just because someone is a Celestial Wizard doesn’t mean it’s Lucy’s cousin.

      But in the gmg arc when they were destroying the eclipse gate didn’t they say that once the gate was destroyed no one would be able to travel back and forth through time anymore, plus everyone from the past and future were sent back to their timelines after it was destroyed, so surely Silver would have been sent back as well. (unless another eclipse gate was created)

      I’m more for the theory of Silver being Gray’s father. Even if they say he was a demon from the book of Zeref maybe he was originally human and later turned into a demon (just like Minerva was), and there is a possibility he didn’t actually die and the grave he visited was his wife’s grave (Gray’s mother).

      Going back to someone mentioning the fact that he somehow knew Natsu, this could be because of the possibility of Natsu being E.N.D (Evil Natsu Dragneel) so Natsu might actually be a demon from the book of Zeref himself explaining why Silver would know Natsu.

      And last but not least, if Silver was Ul’s husband then it wouldn’t explain why Silver smelt similar to Gray because surely when Natsu met Lyon wouldn’t he have said about Lyon smelling like Gray aswell (Unless Hiro Mashima hadn’t thought ahead this far and thought about Silver later on in the series) Because eventhough they all use ice magic and were both taught by Ul it wouldn’t explain why Natsu never mention anything about Lyon smelling the same.

      The only unexplained fact is why Silver dislikes the mention of Gray’s name, (Or maybe he knew Ul before Gray and possibly had some sort of feelings for her, but she rejected him. Eventually Silver found Gray’s mother and had Gray. But she was killed by deliora and then Silver found out about Ul’s death and blaimed Gray for it?) Haha I think the last part was a lil’ far fetched, but still a possibility I guess?

      Sorry for the long reply, I really needed to get this theory out of my brain to share with others… (^ o ^)/

      (Obviously this is just a theory and I could be completely wrong, lol)

    He can’t be future gray….Gray loves stripping…Silver’s wearing solid armor…New theory! Silver is Gray’s and Erza’s son from the future!! Explains everything!

    I think that theory with Silver being Gray’s father is more convincing, the is the least amount of story holes and illogical things. Moreover the theory with siblings is less Lilly because wouldn’t’t there be already mention about brother? At least with the graves(when Gray was buring his family) ? Plus Lyon has already played the role of brother. And I kind of has a feeling about Silver being somebody’s father- he has the daddy-looks, similar to Gildarts. But originally I wanted to ask if anybody of you have any idea WHEN do we actually learn the true nature of their relationship, mean any guess?

    Hmm, and how about that Silver is Ultear father? I mean, Ur is mother, but who was her lover? Ur and in some way Ultear died because of Grey. And because of this we know why Silver is using ice magic as Ur and why he hates Grey. This theory doesn’t show why Grey and Silver are so alike, but still I think that it might be real.

      But wouldn’t have Natsu said that Silver smelt like Ultear instead (or even Lyon as he was a disciple of Ur), but he only said that he smelt like Gray. Plus in the most recent chapter *Spoilers* on the last page it had the title of next weeks issue and it was called “Father and Son” right after Gray and Silver finally met (And maybe Silver was the one who taught Ur her ice magic) Aha that last part is just a lil theory ~(^ _ ^)~

    I think that Silver is Grays father, and that the grave he was visting was Grays mothers, (his wife) i also think that Silver somehow doesn’t think that gray is worthy enough to use that ice magic, i also think that gray isn’t only an ice mage but probably a demon slayer as well? naarh i don’t know, probably when gray was small he probably brought deliora into the village and it proabably killed his mum? or did something that made silver think he is unworthy, or hate him? i don’t know????

    Just gonna leave another comment out here my theory and this will be my last theory on how they are father and son Alot of people have been saying that grays father is silver i believe that to be true and anyone who doubts me GFYS translate lol i cant really curse but figure out what that means lol.

    Okay so silver is grays father And he probably Died yes he did But he was resurrected to serve tataros in a way they gave him a second chance SO basically he was resurrected As a demon in zerefs book.

    If u want more proof CHapter 387 will be coming out NAd its *TITLED FATHER AND SON* So i’ll let any of you doubters to how silver is grays father figure that out And you tell me WAS i right or was i right !!!!! >:D

    silver is a demon remember? so, it’s unlikely that he’s gray’s dad.

    he’s not human. And even if he was his dad, that wouldn’t explain why

    he hates gray so much. No, I think it’s far more likely, that silver

    is Ur’s missing husband, and he, like a few other’s did, blames him

    for her death. I don’t think it’s to farfetched, A demon falls in love

    with a human woman, accidentally impregnates her, things instantly get

    complicated, so he “disappears”. a few months later, a daughter with

    uncontrollable magic power is born… (that’s why ultear was sent to

    that “special” institute, remember?) Some speculate that ultear’s

    father might be dead, but the story never says that. And if you’ll

    recall, during the fairy island arc, where grimiore heart invades,

    ultear tells gray that her father is still alive, but “missing” and

    that she was searching for him. later on it is revealed that most of

    what she told gray was a lie, but that doesn’t mean the part about her

    father was…

    dix are just thoughts so no beefing pls… He is likely greys broda who must have dated ur…den became a demon later points in time,diz explains why he showed anger towards d mention of greys name…also the fire salamander is a reknown wizard u have to be isolated from d world nt to know him

      One of the chapters title name was something on the lines of Father and Son, to which it featured Gray and Silver, I believe that they could be related in this sense.

    I think that Silver is gray or gray son from the future. That he will become a demon and live in the demon world. If we look at the spirit world their timeline runs differently than with earthland. Also a small detail he gives Lisanne clothing so she would not be so naked. Also he recognizes natsu as they are familiar. When natsu met zeref, zeref told him to kill gray maybe thats why gray is silver or gray son is silver (but that is not very likely). The grave that Silver visit is indeed the grave of UI, due to the close band they had. I think Silver will undress in the near future. old habits never die

    I’m annoyed cuz it ended at gray winning againts him and silver said that hes deliora in silvers body and gray says your not deliora your my dad aren’t you and then there’s no more episodes all I’ve seen is a next time and apparently it’s called silvers memory and I can’t find it
