This question answers the anime challenge question of who I think was the victim of having the saddest death in an anime. this is my opinion, and others will have their own, go and comment telling me whose death you think is the saddest. I’ve only watched a limited number of anime compared to everyone, so my list might be limited.
So with many popular anime, there is a chance that there will be some sort of emotional death regarding a person, usually this person will be loved by most of the other characters and fans. With that said, there is a huge list of characters I could talk about, but within this post I’d like to talk about two specifically.
The first is none other than Neji Hyuga. Neji belong to the Hyuga Clan. He was one of the members that opposed Naruto the most during the start of the series, but once they fought in the Chunin exams, it was clear to him that his ways were wrong. After that, he himself knew that he needed to protect Hinata from all harm, thus he went as far as to protect Hinata during the war, thus he gave up his live to save hers.
He also went as far as to secure both Naruto and Hinata’s lives with each other after he told Naruto to protect her at all costs, which he did, as seen in the movie.
Next up, I’d like to talk about the death of Edward Newgate. You guys might know him better as Whitebeard.
Edward Newgate was one of the strongest Pirates to roam the sea, his name was known far and wide. During his last moments whilst trying to save Ace, some of his subordinates were tricked, including Squard, which saw Whitebeard himself getting stabbed, even when he knew he could move. This was probably the moment when I really thought could have gone differently and he would have been able to fight properly.
Honestly, death was already at his door, but from what I see, he could have done a lot more in terms of damage against the Marines in order to potentially even safe Ace at this point. But it didn’t go as we all saw as both died. Whitebeard’s death is something I wished went differently, but then again, it’s making me talk about it here, so from the author’s perspective, he did a good job.
Nevertheless, with this said, what are your thoughts on this? Go ahead and comment down below to tell me who you think is worthy of having the saddest death.

Out of the 100+ Anime I’ve been read/watched, this is pretty hard. But! As a die hard Yuyu Hakusho fan it would have to be the death of Genkai. Why… she was both mother and master of a person who was still learning who he was and what he was supposed to do. Her death and her gift of her spirit orb to him was very touching and like most great anime, brings it to realism. Next would probably be between the death of Krillin from DBZ or the Death of Makishima from Psycho Pass. Sheesh…. this is hard post to comment on too much LOL. Treiz from Gundam Wing too was pretty epic….

The saddest death in an anime for me is in Inuyasha. It’s when Kagura was killed by Naraku right after she felt her heart beat for the first time. I swear to ya’ll that her death had me crying for so long. It still makes me tear up when I think about it.

Ok, for all of these deaths, SPOILER ALERT, but especially if you haven’t seen Code Geass or Death Note, don’t read this unless you don’t mind 🙂
I cried for like three days when Lelouch died, and I cried when L died and when Itachi Uchiha and Jiraiya and Konan died from Naruto, but the saddest death scene for me was when Netero, then Komugi and Meruem die in Hunter X Hunter.

From Naruto, Itachi and Jiraiya were really up there too, but Neji had to be one that I thought was the most worth mentioning. Although Jiraiya’s one with Nagato and Konan was quite emotional. I’ve not watched Code Geass, but have heard the ending is fantastic. And L’s death was also quite shocking. I’ve not seen HxH either, but have heard a lot of good things.

By far the saddest to me was Full Metal Alchemist when Hues was killed…he had a wife and daughter also ed and Ale didn’t know for a while. I cried a little he was one of my favorite characters and i didn’t expect him to die.

Gintama has a lot of sad Anime deaths, they even had a very emotional scene where a cigarette machine died.
