Bleach 679 see’s the end of Ichigo as he is unable to do a single thing, Yhwach is able to completely overwhelm Ichigo and Orihime that he has lost all hope. Yhwach even goes as far as to begin removing Ichigo’s powers. Uryu faces Jugram when he uses his Schrift “A”, “Antithesis” reverses all damage done onto Uryu onto his opponent, but Jugram uses his “Balance” to give all the misfortune to Uryu.
Bleach 679 begins as Yhwach explains his power, he cannot see the future, but in fact the ability to change it. His power is very similar to theirs, just as they can influence no more than one instant, he can do the same. All he can do is change and influence the entirety of fate that he can see. Yhwach mentions that Ichigo has overcome despair and changed his fate multiple times.
The one way he’s been able to do so is because Yhwach was not there. Yhwach then asks Ichigo to go on and try to change the future because it will allow him to see how spectacular of a future it shall be. He will be able to change it, and thus chop down any fate Ichigo has. Ichigo is forced to despair, he begins to shout as loud as he can.
Uryu and Jugram continue their fight, we see Jugram reveal his Schrift “B,” the “Balance” which allows him to take misfortune that occurs within his sphere of influence and disperse it to those who have fortuitous luck and lead charmed lives.He maintains the balance in his world. Furthermore, he can take any misfortune that hits him and redirect it to his Freund Schild or “Substitute Shield” which he currently holds.
Uryu is on the ground bleeding, unable to do a single thing. Uryu is told that he doesn’t seem to even have the power to get an answer out, this will be his end. Uryu asks Jugram if he’d like to see his Schrift. Jugram knows that it might be a way for him to gain some more time, but Uryu mentions that it’s quite the opposite as his time has come.
Uryu reveals his Schrift to be “A” or “Antithesis”, which redirects all the damage done to Uryu to someone else, specifically an enemy he might be fighting. All the damage done onto Uryu is redirected to Jugram, where he begins to bleed profusely. The damage has to have already happen for it to work as it reverses the damage.
At this point, the damage to Jugram is reversed to Uryu, which is very low. Uryu mentions that it’s a very good power, it might even be used to defeat Yhwach. He might even be the only one capable of doing so. Uryu is shocked that it might be something to do with Yhwach’s Almighty. On top of which, Jugram asks if Uryu really thinks he will let him go.
Out of nowhere, Uryu is hit by a ton of damage onto his back, he is told that his power is splendid, but against his Balance it’s a bad match up. Using his Freund Schild, he was able to absorb and redirect all the damage to it, which in turn was redirected back at Uryu using his balance. All the misfortune that his Jugram was also redirected back into the shield.
Thus he uses this misfortune to release and damage Uryu even more. Jugram approaches as he mentions that he doesn’t like repeating himself, he doesn’t know when to quit. Jugram raises his sword above Uryu, this is when Jugram mentions that Uryu is a foolish being just like a human. He goes to strike Uryu, this is when we cut away to Ichigo.
Ichigo is pushed, beaten, kicked and thrown around like ragdoll. He is unable to do anything, he no longer has any fight in him. Yhwach expected so much more from him. He gives up, calling it quits. Yhwach drops Ichigo, calling him a waste that provided him very little entertainment. Ichigo’s final duty comes as Yhwach mentions that it’s time for the power he gave him to return to the true owner. Yhwach begins to take Ichigo’s powers, not fully sure if it’s only Quincy or all. Bleach 679 ends here.
A fantastic chapter as we see both heroes beaten down. Uryu and Ichigo are both at critical points. I can only see one thing happening now, which is for Isshin and Ryuken to show up to stop both Jugram and Yhwach from killing their sons. Nevertheless, I can’t wait for Bleach 680, which will truly be another epic chapter if Isshin and Ryuken show up.

I hope he doesn’t loose his Quincy powers. He hasn’t even used it’s full potential and I feel like they will be more effective Yhwach. Cause his Hollow powers didn’t do anything.

There only way is if someone helps and saves them, now its either the Dads or Renji & Rukia, but either way the best choice right is pull back and regroup.
The Balance was a bit obvious, but The Antithesis, was a mystery, now we know how Uryu survived the Aushwallen, but what I do want to know is how he (in a million in one chances) was born with that power within him?

I like Uryu’s Schrift. However, Uryu never had this ability when he was young. So him surviving Auswählen is still a mystery. We know if a Quincy is powerful enough, they can survive Auswählen with only their powers stolen. Masaki survived Auswählen and she only lost her powers. She wasn’t even injured. She died because of Grand Fisher. Bazz-B and NaNaNa survived, but they lost their Vollständig and got very injured. Uryu being alive afterwards is very strange. I find it ironic that Uryu’s The Antithesis is a good counter for The Almighty, but The Balance is a good counter for The Antithesis.

Indeed, Uryu is facing his hell, he is unable to fight, and unable to use the new power he has just gained. Antithesis is fantastic, but against the balance of Jugram, his power has been countered so easily.

I think that Antithesis power was always innate within Uryu, the same is for all the Sternritters, Yhwach gives them the letters, but the Sternritters they form the words, say for example, Bazz-B temper harnessed into The Heat, or Cang Du iron will grew into The Iron and so on.
I think Pernida & Gerard are different because they had their powers at full grasp, while everyone else had their powers innate within them, and Yhwach Schrift helped bring them out to their full potential.

That is how a Schrift works. Yhwach doesn’t give a Quincy a new ability. All he does is give them a piece of his soul so they can use their full potential. Then when they die, that soul comes back to him. It is possible that Uryu survived Auswählen by using The Antithesis, but if so, who did he redirect the damage too??

This chapter was ok, in my opinion. Everyone and their mothers knew what Jugram’s schrift would turn out to be. But we did find out what Uryu’s scrift was so that is a positive note. There would be no possible way for Ichigo to defeat Yhwach so I was expecting Ichigo to fail miserably and miserably did he fail indeed. I expect someone (maybe Uryu’s father) to rescue Ichigo….

Personally I think Ryuken will save Uryu and Isshin will save Ichigo. Of course I’m expecting Orihime to get up and heal Ichigo so Isshin cab buy them some time before getting completely wrecked.

Rukia and Renji are heading towards Ichigo and Orihime. So I think they, along with Isshin, will fight Yhwach until Ichigo is healed. Ryuken should go to Uryu.

Well you see the thing is that Ryuken saving Uryu would be something that everyone would be expecting so I just thought that Kubo may just do the opposite but of course I could be very wrong.

I understand and that is a good point. The thing is, Ryuken and Uryu don’t have a good relationship. This obviously started after Katagiri died because in the flashback, Ryuken was a very compassionate person, but currently he isn’t. This fight against Jugram will be a good time to bound and improve their relationship.

Agreed, his Schrift was somewhat hinted at when he first used it, which was pretty cool. It was kind of predicted that Ichigo would get his handed to him. Happens all the time, and he still manages to get up again.

I have to say i have really been impressed with Kubo with the couple of chapters or two that i missed commenting on, so far i have predicted two things & both have come to pass(Ichigo couldnt do anything even with his bankai against yhwach & Yhwach stealing his power as he is about to…Whats also more amazing is that someone at “reddit” predicted Uryu’s schrift “Antithesis” as a joke in chapter prediction a couple of chapters ago only for him to actual nail it..
Unlike most, i really got a clear understanding Yhwach’s ability unlike before it now makes sense on how he was able to counter Ichibei since unlike before, I didnt see how seeing the future alone could have negated ichibei’s abilities on him so this makes perfect sense as to why & I also like the fact that Uryu might play a key role to Yhwach’s defeat given his ability..This is one thing i can back up since it had a good build towards to where we have reached now, while Jugram might try to drag this, i still think Uryu is stronger than he is, i believe the power he has is still too hax for Jugram, after-all, he has an “A” & the succesor to Yhwach
Frankly, i expect perhaps maybe Ryuken to interfere or both(Ryuken & Isshin) against an enemy but not isshin alone interfering against Yhwach or Jugram, maybe in a Gerald’s fight or against some other opponent but not against those two, I think Isshin isnt anywhere near the power level to be helping ichigo against yhwach or Jugram for that matter, I reserve ryuken coz we dont know what to expect from him nor do we know how powerful he truly is but we can gouge Isshin based on his fellow shinigami feats..I think he is rather better off if he pairs with someone to help out abit but i dont truly expect much form him unless he is given an opponent that he could fight on his own, would love if nxt week we see abit whats going on in Gerald’s fight

Mr. Tommo2304 said an interesting theory about The Almighty. He believes that this chapter has revealed a critical weakness of The Almighty. Yhwach said that Ichigo only pulled through despair because he wasn’t in his future. So Tommo said that Yhwach can only change the future that has him in it. He cannot change the future of an event that doesn’t have him in it. So he can see all futures, but he cannot change all of them. I happen to agree with this theory.

It makes sense that Uryu could be Yhwach’s worst nightmare because if Yhwach can only affect the future that he is in, then it stands to reason that Uryu could use his powers to reverse the damage done to someone and let it all rain down on Yhwach. To be honest, Uryu’s ability is just too convenient/op. It reminds me of Orihime’s broken ability to reject phenomenon. Maybe between the two of them they can heal Ichigo’s bankai. Also I cant believe Orihime is down for the count.

One chapter of Uryu’s Schrift. It is based off of his personality, so I feel like their is still more information we need to know. Orihime’s powers have always been about rejection. Shun Shun Rikka and The Antithesis due actually seem similar. I believe both Uryu and Orihime will play a role in defeating Yhwach.

While Uryu’s schrift might seem convenient, It had a good build, yhwach once said that Uryu had the potential to be stronger than him, with this ability that he has, we see as to why he said so, & hence why i think their is more to Uryu’s schrift for yhwach to acknowledge him, which is why i think Jugram has another thing coming for hm

Renji and Rukia are basically running to there death. We know what they can do and it wont be enough to even hit Yhwach. Since we don’t really know Isshins powers I can’t say he wont be able to help but I doubt it. I could see Rykun saving Isshida but at the cost of Rykuns life. They did to stop trying to do physical damage to Yhwach it is not working and it wont start working he is just at a much higher level. Uryu I could see hurting Yhwach with his “A” but not beating Yhwach. I still say Aizen is going to play a role in Yhwach defeat. After all this time with character after character trying to take on Yhwach Aizen is STILL the only one whos powers have had any effect at all and don’t forget that was with all those seals on him. Take those off get up out of that chair and I’m willing to bet Aizens power will work against him the only question is will it work long enough for them to take Yhwach out.

I agree that Aizen will play a role in Yhwach’s defeat, but I honestly doubt he will survive this war. Yhwach will kill Aizen for sure. I honestly don’t see either of these two living after the war. They are just too evil to be left alive.

Aizen is immortal though. Central 46 tried a lot of different ways to kill him and could not do it thats why he is in seals and a prison but I think Yhwach is also. Yhwach is far stronger then Aizen but Immortality is a tough nut to crack Everyone seems to have forgotten that Renji and Rukia do not have a straight path to Ichigo Chad and Ganju are fighting those giant statue things. So they will run into those things first could say the same for Isshin also. I’m interested in seeing who reaches Ichigo first lol

Yhwach is the Soul King and has The Almighty. If anything, he cab just negate Aizen’s immortality. Plus, was it stated that Aizen can’t be killed? Immortality doesn’t necessarily mean unlikable. Arrancar are considered immortal because they don’t age, but they can surly die. Chad and Ganju will definitely defeat those statues but will encounter a more powerful opponent. I hope that’s when Ginjou and Tsukishima should up to help them. I think Renji and Rukia are heading up towards Ichigo. They are following his Reiatsu.
