Ichigo’s Bankai Broken! Yhwach’s Almighty – Bleach 678

Bleach 678 see’s Ichigo enabling his Bankai and quickly uses his Tensa Zangetsu against Yhwach. However, Yhwach uses his own powers, “The Almighty”, which enables him to break Ichigo’s Bankai into two pieces. Yhwach’s Almighty enables him to look into the future and has the ability to transform and change it into something he wants, such as to break Ichigo’s Bankai.

Bleach 678 begins as Ichigo goes on to talk about his own despair, he knows it all too well. Because up until now, he’s climbed up and kicked its teeth in. He’s been able to surpass it over and over again, just to make it to this very moment. Ichigo places both his swords together and calls over his Bankai!

A large smoke dissipates from it, Ichigo’s shoots out and heads towards Yhwach! We see Ichigo attack using his Tensa Zangetsu, but as soon as he’s about to attack, we see Ichigo’s Zanpakuto broken, the chain attached to the sword also breaks. Ichigo quickly notices the sword and it’s broken state, he is shocked.

He looks at Yhwach as he has the other part of the broken sword. Ichigo is shocked at this sight, he is unable to understand it. Yhwach mentions that he should not be so frightened, he simply expresses his respect to his power, he calls his new Tensa Zangetsu a fearsome Bankai that he cannot allow it.

Therefore, he went through to the future to break it. Yhwach mentions that Ichigo probably doesn’t understand, and thus he won’t have the luxury of trying to figure out what has just happened. He had told him not to let his guard down. On top of cutting down his Zangetsu, we see Ichigo’s horn also being removed, seems like Yhwach has also cut it off.

He throws it back at Ichigo, but Ichigo defends it. Yhwach then appears behind Ichigo, he attacks Ichigo over and over ago until he begins to bleed. Orihime tries to defend against one of Yhwach’s attacks, but this distracts Ichigo further as now he’s hit from the front. Yhwach talks a little about his powers and how Ichigo would have probably questioned them.

He goes on to mention that Ichigo mentioned that the future can be changed. Yhwach goes on to clarify that his ability, The Almighty, is not the power to see the future. It is the power to “Transform” it. Yhwach, grows his power even further as he keeps on using the eyes and the abilities from the Soul King. He even forces Ichigo to further despair so he can improve. Bleach 678 ends here.

A fantastic chapter, Ichigo enables his Bankai and quickly gets it taken away from him. Seems like Ichigo has very little power or chance against Yhwach. On top of which, Yhwach has revealed his power to Ichigo, I guess that it’ll somehow turn against him. We’ll just have to find out in next week’s Bleach 679 chapter, can’t wait!

Wow lame as hell & so underwhelming. I expected so much more from Ichigo’s Bankai with his ‘True Zangestus.’ Why does Kubo keep explaining Yhwach’s power in different ways, its just annoying now. “Transforming” the future would be the same as seeing the future & changing it.

Hmm I see your point, I guess that Kubo is kind of hyping it a lot, but some of the abilities and looks might not be up to par. I honestly think that Kubo has a much bigger picture for all of this. If you remember with Aizen and Ichigo, Ichigo was beaten to near death. He trained, even went as far as to talk to Zangetsu to get the Final Getsuga Tensho abilities, which he eventually did. I think some of that might repeat here.

Yea ik that’s the only thing we can kinda except now. Hopefully its not random BS power up like versus Aizen. Want Kubo to justify beating Yhwach, good training, build up & fight, Not a randomness again.

This obviously isn’t the final battle with Yhwach can just change the future and do this to Ichigo’s Bankai. This doesn’t even scream “final battle” so I wasn’t too surprised about what happened. The Almighty is truly the most powerful ability in Bleach.

I think so too, it seems more like a fight to display the brand new abilities than the actual fight, as their are still a number of unanswered questions left in Bleach.
Plus Yhwach is a breaker, LITERALLY:
His power might be the most Broken ability in Bleach, literally:
      1)He broke Ichigo Bankai
      2)He broke Ichigo Bankai
      3)He broke the future.
4)He even broke the rules, the rules in Manga when a main hero shows a new power he or she normally dominates his or her enemy, BUT YHWACH AIN’T HAVING THAT SHIT HE DOESN’T FOLLOW THE RULES, HE LITERALLY BREAKS THEM (I couldn’t help but laugh at this)

I concur. It is getting pretty frustrating. I’d rather have him have Ichigo beaten to a pulp without releasing it. The only saving grace is that Juha had to go onto the future to stop it because it is too magnificent a power.

I would have wanted to see more of the “magnificent power” of his, I’m sure it’s great, but with a broken sword, he might have to talk with his Inner Hollow Ichigo and Zangetsu to remake it again.

YHWACH YOU MAGNIFICENT BASTARD, THIS IS WHAT I LOVE ABOUT HIM, HE DOESN’T FOLLOW THE RULES, LIKE IN ANY OTHER MANGA, WHEN A HERO USES THEIR FULL POWER THEY OVERCOME THE VILLAINS, BUT YHWACH DOESN’T FOLLOW THAT RULE, HE ACTUALLY BROKE IT, AND DOING THE SMART THING AND BREAK IT BEFORE IT BREAKS HIM.

I LOVE OVERPOWERED VILLAINS, ESPECIALLY THE TYPES WHO DON’T FOLLOW THE RULES, AND YHWACH IS HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE BEST!!!!!!

Haha awesome! I don’t think Kubo wants to break the rules and implement “time travelling” into the series, but he’s done well with Yhwach and his abilities.

My thoughts: This was an OK chapter in my opinion because of the flashbacks of Ichigo’s despairing moments, the reveal of Ichigo’s bankai (I like how he put both swords together), and lastly the secret behind the “Almighty”. Yhwach keeps on throwing us surprises and I actually like them. Can’t wait to see what else Yhwach has in store for Ichigo next chapter.

P.S. I wonder how Ichigo’s bankai would look if he never caused his katana to turn white. Would it look different or the same?

Whenever someone reveals the secret behind their abilities, it usually means that they’re going to die or be defeated soon. I’m guessing that Yhwach’s abilities will somehow be trumped by Ichigo’s despair. Otherwise, it seems like Yhwach is OP at the moment and cannot be defeated.

    Just : wow .
Kubo , can you explain me how you can coming out a new bankai for ichigo in ONLY 1 page and after you broke that ?

This power to transform the future brought 2 facts : 1 – The almighty have 2 abilities : See the future and transform it
2 – Yhwach is the most too OP character ever .

Hard to say why Kubo would do it, but I guess the most general explanation would have been to shown how strong Yhwach is compared to Ichigo. From the chapter, I don’t think he can “see” the future, I believe that he can somehow “transform” it thought. Which I guess means that he can see it, but it seems like he is denying it.

Ichigo not in full form though. I guess the author is just fooling around with time to drag the whole bleach episode. Its currently shows his shinigami and hollow form. More like just a begining. Have yet to mention about his quincy part. The full form will be a merger of shinigami, hollow and quincy form. I guess this is what the author has installed for his readers. Remembered how a fight lasted 10 chapters or more long.

I’m a little confused, is the almighty power to change the future Bach own power, or the mixed soul king power?

And I don’t think Bach has used Yamamoto bankai yet

You would think that Ichigo’s new Hollow powers would do some damage to Yhwach, considering Quincy Reiryoku is weak against Hollow Reiatsu, but I don’t think this is enough. Ichigo needs to use another power he has to hurt Yhwach. The only time a Quincy has ever been at a disadvantage is when Grimmjow wasn’t affected by Askin’s Gift Ball Deluxe. Kisuke said an Arrancar’s Resureccion turns their Reiatsu completely Hollow. Which makes sense because Arrancar are hybrids, but they become their true forms, which is more Hollow then Shinigami. So this just means that Grimmjow and Nelliel in their Resureccion cannot be affected by the base potency of Gift Ball and Gift Ball Deluxe. My guess is that Grimmjow used Resureccion to try to save himself from Askin’s Gift Ball, but it didn’t work because entering in a Resureccion only heals physical injures, not biological like being poisoned. So Kisuke healed him using his Bankai. Askin would have to just calculate their lethal dose inside the Gift Ball Deluxe to kill them. Askin was actually doing this to Kisuke. Quincy have shown to be weak against other Quincy. Quilge Opie’s The Jail has the ability to create Reishi cages that can basically imprison anyone. The only people that cannot be imprisoned by The Jail is other Quincy l. Another example is Giselle’s The Zombie, which has the ability to turn anyone into zombies that touches her blood. The only ones that cannot be turned into zombies are Quincy. They have to be dead to become zombies. So I believe Ichigo needs to talk with Zangetsu and use his Quincy powers against Yhwach. I also believe Orihime will reject Ichigo’s injures and his broken Bankai.

But hasn’t Ichigo already been able to use his Quincy power? It might not have been a lot but he’s been trying. I guess when he activated his Bankai, he was able to show his threat in all that you mean about his power against Yhwach. I don’t think Orihime will be able to reject his broken Bankai, his injuries yet though. Tensa Zangetsu seems to be a very sensitive sword, it fights harder when Ichigo is in despair, and it’ll just have t rebuild himself from scratch if he wants Ichigo not to die.
I still want to see something about how Zangetsu hates water, and wants to live in the air, I really want to see this somehow be something significant if Zangetsu appears with Ichigo here.

He has become achieved his true potential, but he has only show half of his true power. Which is his Hollow side. But we just that it couldn’t even injure Yhwach. If his Hollow side had a power up form, then his Quincy side should as well. His Quincy side should allow Ichigo to use Blut Vene and Blut Arterie to its fullest extent and maybe even fire a Getsuga Tensho/Heilig Pfeil combination attack. I do believe Orihime can reject what happened to Ichigo. If her defense has improved so much to the point where she can even block a strike from Yhwach’s Spirit Weapon, then I her rejection has improved tremendously. It will show us how much stronger she has become. I also consider Orihime the key to Yhwach’s defeat. She wasn’t even in Yhwach’s dream of Ichigo killing him in his sleep. Even though Kubo drew the dream sequence and when Ichigo came very similar.

I hope you’re right, I hope that Orihime has something powerful hiding in her fingertips. I wondered why Ichigo couldn’t block any of the attacks by Yhwach using the Blut system, I guess that he just needs to somehow learn to use it because most of what he’s done is just guesswork and somehow he’s been able to manifest it.

I’m guessing Ichigo didn’t use Blut Vene is because he is in his Hollow form, which has Hierro as his defense, but Yhwach easily pierced through it. Like I said, it doesn’t seem like Ichigo has completely mastered his Quincy powers. Hell, he even said he hasn’t completely mastered his Hollow powers. He needed Yhwach’s Reiatsu to jump start his Hollow form. And now he went Bankai. Orihime’s powers are very tied to her emotions. If Orihime feels confident, her powers will work fine. If not, they won’t work as well. I’m impressed that she has kept her composure during this chapter. That means her healing powers will work to perfection because she wants to heal Ichigo. Her defense is prefect because she wants to protect Ichigo. So if she wants to save Ichigo, her offense will he prefect. Not that I think she can hurt Yhwach, but her offensive technique can actually pierce through anything.

I wonder how crazy Ichigo would be if he had mastered his powers, Yhwach would have very little chance. Orihime has great abilities, especially since they’re form the Hokgyouku, but her weakness is that she can’t fight up close because of how weak her hair clip is, so I don’t even know if she can step in to help Ichigo, or even if Yhwach will give her time to heal him. It’ll be brutal if she is hurt.

Actually, Orihime’s Shun Shun Rikka didn’t come from the Hogyoku. Orihime and Chad’s powers were awaken by Ichigo’s Reiatsu. Aizen said both their powers were enhanced by the Hogyoku. Ginjou said that Chad’s Fullbring was always inside of him, but he didn’t day anything about Orihime. We have no idea were her powers came from. They are in her hair pins. Hachigen said Shun Shun Rikka was similar to a Zanpakuto and they area similar to his Space Time Barriars, which he gained when he became a Visored. Her hair pins also function similar to a Quincy’s Spirit Weapon. So Orihime’s powers are a mix between multiple spiritual beings. Similar to Ichigo. If anything, her powers probably came from the Soul King, and that maybe she wasn’t in Yhwach’s dream because like Mimihagi, and probably Pernida and Gerard, that The Almighty cannot see Orihime’s future.

Interesting, I actually didn’t know that. I thought it was given to them by the Hogyouku. I wonder if Hachigen and Orihime talked about her power and how she could utilise them in a better way. Would be an interesting talk to listen to.

We could have some way of bringing Isshin into this. I can imagine it, isshin jumps through the wall, shouts: “BANKAI (Zampaktou’s bankai name) and stall Yuha while ichigo finds out a way to beat him.

It would be cool to have something like this, but I don’t think Kubo will draw something like this, I want Isshin to show his Shikai and so on then jump onto his Bankai.

right now Kubo needs to make Orihime shine. sometime back Lord Aizen said she had the power to reject the doings of a god. I believe she is the one to save Ichigo and his lame bankai against Ywach. otherwise Kubo should have left her in the living realm to play with her b**bies

I just realized how cool Orihime is. I mean she can heal anything, even is it no longer exist! She should definitely get some more screen time because her ability is just too convenient.
