Zaraki’s Bankai Kills Gerard – Bleach 669

Bleach 669 see’s Zaraki’s Bankai unveiled as he slightly transforms into a demon-like creature able to deal absolutely damage after Yachiru gives him the power he needs. His zanpakuto grows smaller, and has a new form, unlike his Shikai, it has new groves. Gerard is absolutely astonished that Zaraki can deal so much damage that he’s knocked off the island, but when he tries to arrive, Zaraki slices his body in two absolutely dealing the fatal blow.

Bleach 669, titled “Yaiba 2” begins as Yachiru gives Zaraki the power where he’s able to feel it just by touch. Yachiru tells him that this power he now holds is Bankai! A large force of energy appears around Zaraki that it blows away Hitsugaya, Byakuya and Gerard. They all look as Zaraki lows on the ground.

This time, his form is different as he seems like he’s about to attack. His hair grows even wilder, his clothes are ripped even further. His skin has grown red, all while his zanpakuto has a new form, it’s a lot smaller compared to his Shikai, but similar features as the blade is even sharper. Ikkaku and others notice the different and are in shock.

Gerard on the other hand mentions that his reiatsu seems to have grown, but his transformation is minimal at beast. If this is what he had up his sleeve, then he is disappointed he mentions. The zanpakuto Zaraki holds is called a sorry excuse for a Bankai from Gerard. In the end he was simply fodder.

Gerard lays down his sword as he gets ready to smash Zaraki to the ground, in doing so we see the incredible face of Zaraki as he unveils a whole new face with markings running down his face. His forehead is also different as his features are incredible focused. Zaraki makes contact with Gerard’s fist, in an instant we see Zaraki bite onto the flesh of his skin and manages to rip off Gerard’s arm.

By ripping his arm off, it gives him the opportunity to get closer with his own sword and trying to cut down Gerard. In his attempt, Gerard raises his shield and thus prevents a large amount of damage from being done. However, this causes his forehead to bleed as he’s been hit there, along with his other arm and a destroyed sword.

Gerard shouts that it’s impossible as his sword seems to have been destroyed.  Zaraki punches Gerard so hard that he’s forced off the island itself. He grabs his own sword. Hitsugaya mentions that he’s fallen over the edge, but since it’s Gerard we’re talking about, he grows wings, in an effort he goes on to mention it’s absurd that he could so something like this a mere Shinigami.

Zaraki stands on the edge of the island too, as Gerard gets closer to the top of the island, we see Zaraki get ready as he gets ready to jump. After a mere second or two, we see Zaraki swipe his sword upwards as he cleaves Gerard’s body in two separate parts. Gerard seems to have been dealt the final crucial blow, he will either die or somehow manage to recover from this. Bleach 669 ends here.

A fantastic chapter, it seemed short but a lot of the pages were double showcasing the amazing artwork from Kubo Tite himself. It’s amazing to see that Zaraki had such an amazing power. We don’t have a name yet, but again we don’t really need a name for this power. It’s just amazing! This has to be one of my favourite chapters, can’t wait to see next week’s Bleach 670, it’s going to be epic!

    Its not diff from the other captains a couple of them go through a transformation when they use their Bankai. Rukia does Renji kind of Sajin as he turns more into a human. Its not unheard of for something like that to happen. Chapter was cool but would like to know what abilities Kenpachi has with his Bankai

      I don’t think he has any new abilities, I think all his abilities are enhanced so he’s powers help him become a real demon, someone who cannot be stopped.

    Kenpachi was Beast!!!
    I thought his Bankai was cool though, I liked how he ripped off Gerard arm with just his teeth. But I did expect his Bankai have something to do with his body changing though. But I hope we get into more detail with it next week though, I don’t think Gerard out yet though, maybe he can reform and I still liked to know what abilities the “Heart of the Soul King” can do, like what does it Govern?

    In addition we don’t know what the name of Kenpachi Bankai is though yet, and to be confirmed if Yachiru is related to his zanpukto (I’m sure she is, but it hasn’t been stated in the manga), so hopefully this chapter was to show off Kenpachi improved strength and power.

      I’m hoping we see more of Gerard, but such a crucial blow to his body could mean his death here. I too want to see an extended fight and Gerard back with a new form or something. And an explanation to why he’s the Heart too. I’d love to learn Kenpachi’s Bankai name, I don’t think we got it in this chapter, but it would be awesome to learn it.

        Since he can heal himself, he could probably heal himself, and no we didn’t get the Bankai’s name, so I hope to see more next chapter.

    No matter how you look at it. Kenpach’s bankie is on another level, look at what happened when it was releaced. It reminds me of aizen and ichigos final fight when they both went all out. I think kenpach is more or less equal to or stronger than yamamoto with his bankie…

      He;s just overwhelmingly powerful that Gerard couldn’t even believe that a mere Shinigami could do it, thats why I think he lost here. I think he’s the strongest Shinigami, no matter what!

    This Bankai is perfect for Zaraki. He is now a monster that lives for battle. He is now a demon. Kaname was right by calling him one because his Bankai made him one. I can’t believe he ripped off Gerard’s arm using his teeth!!! That’s insane. And he cut Gerard in half from a distance. Which still leads me to believe his blade is like Sanpo Kenju because Yachiru was able to cut Guenael Lee even though he dodged her blade. Also, I want everyone to go back to chapter 526 and see Zaraki’s training with Unohana. When she went Bankai, Zaraki went crazy. He looked very similar to how he does now in Bankai. Also, I don’t believe Gerard is dead. Just like Pernida, Gerard is part of the Soul King and he is important to the story. Plus it seems he party released his Vollständig to fly.

      Damn, I actually missed it, I was wondering the way in which he was drawn there, and yeah wow! Thats definitely impressive, to rip his arm off like that is insane. “I’ve finally awaken from my slumber” holy crap, thats when I realised that he’s back. Reread that chapter and wow, RetsuxKenpachi <3. Damn. Yup agreed with you that he looks very similar to him now. I think he's got a lot more to show.

    Zaraki isn’t stronger than Yamamoto@ T-DO…I believe he us strong but his reiatsu is nothing compared to yamamoto..Yamamoto’s bankai can destroy akk three worlds if it is used prolonged but zaraki own I doubt…

      I was thinking about this, he seems like he’s having a lot of fun as he tries to rip apart Gerard. I personally don’t think Gerard is dead, yet, and think that he will keep on fighting till the very end, not his death but exhaustion.

    If he does turn on the other shinigami, it’s because they got in his way. This guy is an absolute BEAST! Look out Kaidou, your title as Strongest Beast is currently in question. I’m looking forward to seeing Zaraki’s bankai in color. I’m pretty sure his bankai isn’t just about being stronger or cutting opponents down. I’m hoping to see some really good theory videos pertaining to this bankai. Beautiful chapter. Not my absolute favorite, but it’s definitely within the top 5.

    I Think Gerald will release his voltstanding now,and is true zaraki can’t control himself in this state,and what is the yaiba II means?is a bankai name or what? thanks

      Im hoping for this to happen so the battle can keep on going, for a few more chapters at least. Yaiba II translates to Blade 2, which I guess as Nick mentioned refers to a previous chapter, Bleach 577, which was titled Blade.

    For those who are wondering why this chapter is called Yaiba II, go back to chapter 577 titled Sword or Blade. This is the chapter when Zaraki releases his Shikai, Nozorashi, to destroy the meteorite Gremmy created. This is why this chapter is titled blade in Japanese. To match the chapter when he first showed his Shikai.

    OK, zaraki’s bankai zanpakuto is only half, I think yachiru is a part of his zanpakuto and she will be the other half to complete his bankai. My guess, Gerard will go vollstanding and overwhelm zaraki and bit, then yachiru will reveal herself to have been the other half of zaraki’s bankai, power up zaraki and then he’ll finish Gerard off!

      Good theory, could happen, but some people are saying that she is a zanpakuto, or not even a shinigami, or possibly even dead. Could be any here, if you ask me.

    I liked this chapter. I really liked that panel where yachiru was talking to zaraki, just before his bankai release. Zaraki’s bankai was O.K. in my opinion. It obviously focuses reiatsu into his body, just like how ichigo’s bankai is.
