Bleach 640 see’s Mayuri and Nemu (or Nemuri Nanagou) have a moment as she’s ordered not to get herself killed for the fact that Mayuri may have already got feelings for her. While Pernida regenerates all his fingers, he reveals his Quincy abilities while also mentioning that he’s always been a Quincy. Pernida destroys Mayuri’s Bankai using his abilities.
Bleach 640 begins as we go to the past when a girl wakes up, she remembers the time when someone asks if they’ve woken up from their slumber. This being Mayuri and Nemu. She remembers the name that she was given at the time she woke up. Mayuri laughs loudly, as he is proud that his Bankai has swallowed Pernida.
Some seconds later, we see his Bankai being ripped apart as it bursts, a large arrow is flung towards Mayuri as he tries to dodge it. Pernida begins to laugh loudly as he then asks how his impression was of him. Then mentions that he may have already forgotten that Pernida is a Quincy.
Mayuri is unimpressed, as he calls Pernida shameless for calling himself a Quincy, being a left arm and all. Pernida mentions that there is nothing to be ashamed off, calling himself a Quincy as he’s always been one. Pernida goes on to mention that he’s truly come to despise his incessant badmouthing of the name Quincy.
Mayuri realises that Pernida has changed drastically, he’s noticed him evolving but right now it’s a little different. He might also think that he could be regaining his memories as the Spirit King, or could other variables be in effect. Pernida gets more Bows and Arrows ready, he points and shoots!
He’s attached the bows with his nerves, as they got closer to Mayuri it attaches to him but he just uses his defensive abilities to explode it away. One of the arrow reach the ground but quickly changes it’s trajectory as the nerves bend it and send it the other way. It seems that the arrow will hit Mayuri’s back.
However out of nowhere, Nemu appears and throws it away, while also slicing her hand off to prevent infection. She begins to fall to the ground when Mayuri grabs her and throws her to the side. Calling her a fool, while telling her that she should have not acted on her own orders.
If she had touched the floor, she would be nothing more than scrap of meat. She mentions that she thought he’d need a shield to fight. Mayuri mentions that he doesn’t remember ever teaching her to ever assist him based on personal reasoning and judgement.
He was very specific on picking up things that he hasn’t instructed her to do himself. Nemu mentions that she doesn’t know. Mayuri looks to the side as he said her name, or rather calls her by her real name, Nemuri Nanagou (translation: Sleeping Number 7). Through the many battles they’ve fought, ever since Kurosaki and others appeared.
It appears that he may have taught her a little too much. He mentions that it would be a great burden on him to raise the next her the current way he has done to her. Nemuri mentions that she doesn’t know. Mayuri shouts at her telling her to refrain from acting on her own intuitions and instincts.
Mayuri quickly tells her that she doesn’t have the freedom to sacrifice her life as she see’s fit. Her life will only end when and where he deems appropriate. Now that he’s told her, she’s told to rise up. She quietly looks glad as she agrees with these orders, mentioning that she was in the wrong. Bleach 640 ends here.
A fantastic chapter indeed, it seems that the worry Nemuri had seems to have vanished completely. The fact that Nemuri was worried about this, and how Mayuri dealt with it seems to me that they make a good pair. Can’t wait for next week’s Bleach 641, when we continue their battle.

Mayuri is so screwed here. I’m sure he’ll try and think of something, but that modified Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo seemed to be his last resort. Have you jointed how Pernida’s personality is showing more and more? She keeps saying she’s a Quincy. When Mayuri, for some reason, thinks that’s embarrassing, she questions why. She’s always been a Quincy and says she’s annoyed by Mayuri’s bad mouthing the Quincy. I wasn’t expecting her to use Heilig Pfeil. Also, that color page of the Sternritter is so freaking awesome! I love it! Especially Liltotto and Bazz-B being next to each other, and him looking at Jugram.

I know right, and I think she’s eating something haha. Honestly I think Mayuri isn’t in trouble, at the moment atleast. He was saved by Nemuri, yes but now could also be the come back of Mayuri as he shows a technique which is even more powerful. Or counters one of Pernida’s techniques.

Ya your right. Pernida Is really creepy. Especially when she mimics Mayuri’s laugh. I still believe Mayuri is going to lose. But I know he won’t go down without a fight. I like that Nemu’s full name is Nemuri, which closely resembles Mayuri. I also liked how she cut off her arm when that arrow warped her right arm. I also liked how Mayuri saved her. He didn’t have to, but he did.

I think he loves her that she’s always there and that he knows that she cares for him and he also cares for him too. But his way of showing that he loves her is to keep her from doing something stupid and killing herself. However, this could soon be the end of Nemuri. I didn’t notice the similarities but your right aha. It translation to Subject 7, which could mean there were other Nemu’s around before she woke up.

I do know he cares about her. The first time he actually shows it was when her body was used as a cocoon by Szayelaporro and he looked very worried, but quickly hid it. I also like that sense his abuse from the Soul Society arc, he’s been nicer to her. I think their coming flashback might mean that they both are going to die. Also, looks like she used her Zanpakuto to cut off her right arm. So I bet we will see her Shikai. Oh ya I missed that. I guy it took him a while before he could perfectly create her. I know Akon helped him.

Yeah, I think we might see Mayuri at 100% of his rage soon. From laughs to Rage, I honestly think that Nemuri will see her end soon. Although she’s been told not to help him, she will do it anyways. Which will obviously save his life but instead it will cause Mayuri to go nuts on Pernida and just kick butt so hard. I think this is how it’s going to go.

That’s interesting. I think she’ll sacrifice herself as well. But I don’t believe Mayuri will win if she does. He already lost his composure against Pernida before. If Nemuri gets killed, he’ll be even more out of it. I honestly think he’ll lose or die. Pernida is no joke. We’ll see cause this fight keeps getting more interesting.

Agreed, apart from the other special forces of the Quincy, he’s probably the stongest I’ve seen. Except for Jugram too, and obviously Yhwach. Being the left arm, he’s strong as hell. I just hoped the right arm was stronger, which he was but couldn’t really stand against Yhwach at all.

Ya I think it’s fair to say Pernida is the strongest Schutzstaffel. Though we haven’t seen Gerard fight yet, but yes weaker than Yhwach and Jugram using The Almighty. I think the reason why Mimihagi couldn’t stand a chance against Yhwach was because it was just him. If he was one with Jushiro, and they both made it up their to fight Yhwach, it would have been better. That’s why Pernida is so powerful, she has the left arms power, but also her own Quincy powers.

I really believed that Mayuri was going to lose this one. But this chapter seems like it may be opposing my belief. However, one thing i believe is that if Nemu dies, Mayuri is screewed.

I’ll admit, I’ll be kinda sad if Mayuri does die, but I’ll be more sad when Nemuri dies. Despite not having basic emotions, she is very compassionate compared to Mayuri. It’s possible Pernida will fight Kisuke. I actually want to see him fight Askin. And I believe Shutara will fight Pernida in the near future. Ya I just started my fall classes today.

i really want to see what Shutara is made of. Besides we haven’t seem any royal guards bankai(except Ichibei who was too hax) .The only person whose shikai has beem shown is Tenjiro. Can’t wait to see Askin. I actually also thought Urahara was going to face him. I used to think he looked a bit like Aizen with Shunsui’s character.

Ya I want to see all the Royal Guard fight. If you remember back in chapter 544, Jugram went to his room and a female medic looking Quincy with pitch black eyes greeted him. I believe she and Shaz Domino might fight the Royal Guard. She looks strong to me. I believe Shutara’s Zanpakuto is the sewing needle she used to kill Ninazol Weizol, and was broken by Gerard.

Those Color Images looked amazing. Now this fight looks tipped one sided to Left Hand than Mayuri. Still think Left Hand will die or get captured in this fight, someone will interfere & help Mayuri. I’m thinking Aizen since Mayuri can unseal him & Aizen is interested in the Soul King. Once Aizen comes it’ll be over quick & on to the next fight.

Was this confirmed? I know he was attacked by Ichigo, and Mask, Bambietta, and Cang Du sensed his Reiatsu Vanishing. His letter and Schrift wasn’t revealed. Kubo said in an interview 3 years ago that he would reveal all the Sternritter’s letter. So far he hasn’t revealed Shaz Domino and Ms. Black eyes.

I’ve managed to read the whole thing, and damn. It seems like this could itself be a type of “filler episode/arc” once the anime comes back. It seems like this could be be canon, it seems to have the Bleach aspect to it, where it is a little dark, but then see’s some justice in the little girl.

I’m not sure if it is canon or not. Cause it’s happening in events that take place on the manga itself. Especially about the Central 46 being corrupted and evil. It even explained Shaz Domino, the Sternritter that didn’t have a letter for 3 years. And the whole Izuru thing.

Maybe it can be considered as a added bonus or side story? It relating to the canon series but covering a question of Izuru. Just from the novel, it really seems to cover a lot of the series, being involved in the Aizen arc and now the Quincy one. More important then I thought.
