Bleach 636 see’s Mayuri vs Pernida after Zaraki’s arm is ripped off while both his feet take a hit by Pernida’s mysterious attack. Mayuri then stabs Zaraki in order to stop any more damage being hit towards him. Pernida takes a large hit by the hands of Mayuri after he uses his own techniques to scramble Pernida’s nerves, while we might see his true form up next.
Bleach 636 begins as the transformation of Pernida, Zaraki asks why his heads become large, to which Mayuri mentions that there must be a reason for why he’s heads so huge. Mayuri mentions that it’s quite creepy when Zaraki mentions that he’s saying that.
Nemu, Ikkaku and Yumichika talk about how they shouldn’t do anything as they’ll just get mad at them. Nemu mentions that Mayuri orders her to not move until he calls her, to which she then mentions that she doesn’t think Mayuri is struggling so much against the enemy thus she believes he won’t call her. It’s also the same for Zaraki as Ikkaku mentions.
Zaraki’s right arm begins to spin out of control as it begins to scrunch and getting bent even further. Zaraki holds his own arm with the other hand and pulls it off, he bleeds out then quickly takes his sword from the other hand. It folded up so much that it just turned into a pool of blood.
Mayuri tells Zaraki that him ripping his own arm off was a good idea, Zaraki asks if his praising or proving him. Zaraki doesn’t care at this point in time. Zaraki asks what his power is, to which Mayuri doesn’t know if it’s a question or him just talking to himself. Although what he can say now is not to get closer to him. Mayuri tells Nemu to tie Zaraki’s hands to stop his bleeding.
Zaraki asks how he can slash him up if he doesn’t get close. Mayuri asks if he’s asking another question, to which then answers by mentioning that there are other ways to fight without slashing. Zaraki then answers him by mentioning that he wasn’t asking him a question, he was just talking to himself, then quickly runs off.
He mentions that if he doesn’t understand his power, he’ll just cut him in half before he gets to him. Mayuri gets ready to attack soon too. Zaraki slashes his sword which hits right on Pernida’s head, it snaps and cracks however seconds later, Zaraki’s feet are disabled as they’re bent.
On top of which, we see Mayuri’s sword stab Zaraki from the back while his feet are scrunched up. Zaraki looks back calling Mayuri a bastard for what he did. Mayuri mentions that he already knew what kind of technique Pernida was using as he mentions that stopping the limbs, bones will break.
Mayuri enables Ashisogi Hizo Fear Factor 4 which releases a scream by his Zanpakuto which Nemu mentions that if they don’t cover their ears, they will go deaf in four seconds. Zaraki feels his power and collapses. Mayuri then settles that he’ll be fighting against Pernida.
Mayuri mentions that anesthetic kicking is more important than Zaraki’s brute strength. Then mentions that for Zaraki to turn into meatballs here would be a bit inconvenient for them. On top of which Mayuri mentions that for Zaraki to cut Pernida mentions that his nerves are the cause of all of this.
Mayuri mentions that he’s using his own nerves to infiltrate the enemies bodies and forcibly control their movements. He mentions that he’s saw it coming, he knows that Quincy can pump reishi into the blood vessels and make use of that power for themselves.
If so, then it’s no surprise that other beings can take an manipulate reishi as well. Whatever the process is, if the body is cut apart then it can mean something else. Pernida tries to attack with black ripe like features when Mayuri throws a water like substance mentioning for him not to be afraid.
Pernida doesn’t know what the liquid is, when it touches him, Pernida then feels a lot of damage as his own body switches gear. Mayuri asks if it hurts, the acid hardship of having your nerves exposed means that he can easily manipulate him. Mayuri mentions that he’s extremely interested in his power, he thinks he will explore his power more.
He has a ton of drugs that will work on the nerves of his, we see Pernida damaged as he pants and huff on the ground. It seems that he will soon show us his true form soon enough. Bleach 636 ends here.
A truly fantastic chapter as we see Mayuri finally showing us his awesome cool new tricks against some truly strong opponents. Can’t wait to see his Bankai once more as he uses it to truly mess around with Pernida’s nerves in next week’s Bleach 637.

This was a fun chapter, although it’s too bad that Zaraki didn’t really get to do very well. I have a feeling that the fight’s not even close to over yet though so he’ll have his chance for a comeback. This villain’s powers are definitely interesting although I was really hoping that it was a wind ability. With OP on break and Naruto in infinite dismissal, Bleach has instantly won the battle this week!

Ya whatever Pernida’s The Compulsory can do, it seems Mayuri somewhat explained it. But I’m not convinced Pernida is defeated sense she defeated a Royal Guard Member. I also find it interesting that Mayuri’s Shikai, has a new ability to enhance it’s paralyzing ability.

Just goes to show defeating the Royal Guards wasn’t impressive at all, different people have different abilities & are more effective than others. Mayuri figured out & handled ritter C’s ability in his first try.

If you think Pernida is defeated than you wrong good sir. The Compulsory can infect her opponents nerves and she can control them, but I honestly doubt she is defeated. Mayuri did figure out how to counter it, but defeating her won’t be easy. The Compulsory has been used on none human things such as Hikifune’s Cage of Life. Plus she has Vollständig.

You got that right! Obviously a member of the Schutzstaffel that took on a Royal Guard member is stronger than that. Plus, the Vollständig part should be powerful because we saw it used against the Royal Guard. But I would like to see Mayuri win, but not using Bankai. We’ve seen what his Bankai does, so I think it would be interesting if he won with Shikai + his weird drugs. I would also love to see a Mayuri + Nemu teamup. It would give a good opportunity to showcase her Shikai. We haven’t even seen her Zanpakutou yet!
The other curious thing is, we’ve seen so much blood and gore from Pernida. But when we saw those panels of the Royal Guard lying defeated/unconscious, all of their bodies were intact. So did Pernida fight at all in that fight? Its role could have been limited to just opening the Cage of Life.
One more thing I wanted to ask you Nick… why do you think Pernida is a “she”? 😀

Well my goof friend. I’ll tell you why I think Pernida is female. Her name is feminine. I loved up Pernida, and only women have that name. You remember BG9? The Robot Quincy? He technically doesn’t have a gender because machines don’t. But his body type and his personality is male. Pernida is similar. She is the shortest Schutzstaffel. Good observation about the Royal Guard defeated. I believe she defeated Shutara. Because her back is bleeding and her hair ornament is broken. I believe Pernida used the Compulsory to break her ribs. The only Schutzstaffel I don’t believe defeated the Royal Guard is Askin. Lille defeated Oetsu, and Hikifune is holding her stomach like she got shot, so Oetsu defeated her too. While Gerard took out Tenjiro. Also, I believe Mayuri will lose to Pernida. Mainly because it’s too early for a Schutzstaffel to be taken out so soon. But also because of the foreshadowing Kubo put in this chapter. Nemu said Mayuri doesn’t call her unless he he can’t handle the enemy, Ikkaku said the same for Zaraki. And we see Zaraki was defeated by Pernida. Plus Mayuri hasn’t completely analyzed her Schrift. She uses speech to warp things as well. And I believe she will use it to defeat him, and Shutara comes and saves everyone.

Loll, I never said Mayuri won, in fact Mayuri didn’t even attack ritter C or do anything life threathening. It just proved what I have already said, which is different abilities are more affective than others against certain opponents. Mayuri’s smarts, poisons, abilities are perfect for this & he’ll win in the end but won’t be easy.

Well that’s true I didn’t realize that. But I’m going what Kubo is showing us. His foreshadowing came true in this chapter. Nemu and Ikkaku said they don’t get involved unless they can’t handle their opponent. Zaraki was already defeated. That just means Mayuri will be overwhelmed and Nemu will have to save him. We have never seen that, and it’s about time it happened as well.

Kubo isn’t showing anything, its how just how you view it (Kubo expressed & hyped 0 squad but in the end they did nothing). That’s doubtful about Mayuri but we’ll see. I read it again, that poison Mayuri sprayed did hurt ritter C. Clear weakest is the nerves can take hits & not just be stopped, last page shows blood/nerves dripping.

I believe he shows foreshadowing. Why else would he have Nemu express her opinion and say Mayuri only calls her when he can’t handle the enemy? We have ever seen that and it’s obvious it’s gonna happen, otherwise she wouldn’t have said anything. Ya I know Pernida is injured. She isn’t bleeding, her nerves were exposed and she is in pain. Those black tendrils are her nerves. Look it’s fine if you don’t like the Royal Guard, but just because they lost doesn’t mean they have no future role. You clearly view them as weak and prefer the weaker, more screen time Captains which are most likely going to lose. Which is okay. Zaraki already lost, and Ikkaku said the exact same thing Nemu did. It just hasn’t happened yet.

I didn’t see it foreshadowing but u could be right Kubo might show it. I actually like the Royal Guard lol, but I guess I had high expectations & Kubo ruined the 1st impression for his readers. I want them to come back for redemption. Don’t think the Captains will lose, they can do 2vs1 & they got different powers. Ritter C is horrible match up for Zaraki (straight up fighter) loll.

Oh okay I understand. I do agree with you about Kubo hyping them up alot. But I do believe they will redeem themselves. The only Captains I don’t see losing are Shunsui. Kisuke and Yoruichi won’t lose so easliy. I’m thinking for the other Captains, some are bad match ups with the Schutzstaffel. Like Pernida and Zaraki like you said. For Lille, the nest match up for him is Shinji. Sense he can reverse everything. I’m still thinking whose the worst against him. Probably Meele based fighters like Byakuya and Renji. But I’m just guessing.

They’re very objective and I like the way you express it. I think I have a crush on you because of the way you talk Bleach. And I really liked your post on your Favorite Sternritter. You can imagine my sadness when Liltotto and Giselle lost to Yhwach. I don’t even know if they are alive, but I’m hoping they are. Also I completely agree with you about Mayuri. I’m not eve surprised he is fighting Pernida. Anyone else other than Kisuke would have ended up like Zaraki now. All bend up and broken.

I agree. The fight against Yhwach was too bad. I feel they should have teamed up with Bazz against Jugram and fought as a group. I also felt very sad when they and Bazz died. Bazz is my absolute favorite. I also liked Jugram, but I started hating him after he killed Bazz. T_T
What do you think about the Royal Guard? There’s a theory that they now serve Yhwach (since he’s basically Soul King right now) and are going to return as the bad guys.

Ya Bazz-B was pretty sad. I didn’t like him very much until his flashback showed up. I still like Liltotto and Giselle more, but I also like Bazz-B more now. Jugram as well. Sense he didn’t want to fight Bazz-B cause he would have killed him. I believe the Royal Guard are not the bad guys. If Shunsui said they can find a new Soul King, than so the Royal Guard are still the good guys. Yhwach is the new Soul king, but instead of the Divine Generals, he just made his Schutzstaffel his Royal Guard cause they already were before.

Ya that was epic! Kisuke is smarter than Aizen and Mayuri, but we don’t know who is smarter out of these two. I know Mayuri has only been outsmarted by Unohana and Shutara. But never Aizen. So I would have liked to see them duke it out.

Tbh pernida being yachiru could actually happen and could explain why yachiru was naked because it inserted its being into her by using its nerves..its probably some kind of parasite or something dealing with an unborn fetus since mayuris Zan is supposedly a “golden baby” so it could be unborn vs golden baby. I mean why not?? Kenpachi fought a brain and now Mayuri is fighting a bundle of neurons. I really believe that its a possessed yachiru because WHY would kubo keep stalling about its apperaence and why all of a sudden its fighting both ken and mayuri?? Like I stand by my theory and I believe yumichika will play his part with a bankai and possibly a shikai from nemu once mayuri gets wrecked because I feel like he will in the next chapter. Pernida or Yachinida might have some tricks up its sleeves such as using her Zan if she still has it and could explain why pernidas shadow tentacles didn’t appear when it fought the rg because it could be that it was using sanjukenpo(or whatever the name of yachiru shikai is) to conceal its tentacles in another dimension. Like I’m going on and on because I believe that it is Yachiru and it could explain why the hell she was naked.

Well I like your theory, I don’t believe it. If Yachiru was Pernida, and the dramatic show case of her appearance is for Zaraki, why is Zaraki currently paralyzed completely and can’t move or speak? How would he react if that’s the case? The part of the nerves in this chapter seem to be part of her abilities. The speech part of her power has yet to be used in this fight. That just means Mayuri hasn’t completely analyzed The Compulsory. Yachiru is her own special case. Her Zanpakuto is incredibly unique itself. Sense Kubo made Isane say how her Shikai isn’t a living creature, or a being of the environment and Reiatsu. Its just two figures that fight along said her and dissappear if she drops her Zanpakuto. The fact that she can keep her Zanpakuto shows she is Captain level. The only other characters that did this are all Captain level. Like Aizen, Zaraki, Kensei, and Ichigo. I don’t know why she lost her uniform, but it was hinted she was up to something when she went down to heal her arm with Isane. But to be a Quincy? I don’t think so.

Well Nick, the theory that’s floating around is that Pernida is actually a sort of parasite that’s using Yachiru as a medium. Some people also think it’s actually Mashiro, since the heights almost match up.
I was always against Yachiru being Kenpachi’s Zanpakutou, because she was there when he was training with Unohana and also when he presumably acquired Shikai and released it in Mugen. Just because she disappeared around the time Kenpachi released Nozarashi doesn’t mean that Yachiru is Nozarashi. Obviously Kenpachi would have released Nozarashi at least once before his fight with Gremmy (to at least check it out – it would have released when he called its name the first time, around Unohana died). Besides, Yachiru has a Zanpakutou of her own, and may also have Bankai (because she released Shikai without a release command).
The question that remains is… if Yachiru is so strong, how is it that a Quincy can take control of her? Surely she’s not that weak.

Well my friend, I can understand why these theories happen. Mashiro and Yachiru have been mia for a very long time. I just don’t believe they are apart of Pernida. Hmmm Zaraki was in an unfair fight when he entered in a battle against Pernida, they can use their nerves to kick ass while Zaraki is just pure brute strength type of fighting. It would have ended up in Zaraki dying if Mayuri didn’t do anything.

I have to agree with you. While Pernida can send her nerves into you and break your bones, it seems you have to get close to her for it to work. Zaraki did get messed up. Especially when Pernida warped hie legs, than Mayuri stabbed him and paralyzed him, but than his whole body began to warp because his limbs were paralyzed, so now he is completely deaf and paralyzed. Man, can you imagine how much pain Zaraki is in right now ? Broken bones and Mayuri’s Zanpakuto painful venom. Poor Zaraki. I know he is a masochist but still…

I don’t believe he is dead. But he is definitely down for a while. His injures are even worse than when he fought Gremmy. Really other than Orihime, the only other healers are Isane and Hachi.

Zaraki was awesome when he stopped the meteor from destroying the world. That showed his strength. But Perdida is not about strength but about smarts. And for this Zaraki is one of the weakest Shinigami, and Mayuri one of the strongest.

Basically ya. Close combat fighters and Meele based Zanpakuto are not good for fighting Pernida. That’s why she defeated Zaraki so easily. Mayuri is a better choice to fight her.

I think Mayuri will study Pernida’s abilities. This will then give the remaining Shinigami a clue as to how to defeat Yhwach and create a new Soul King.

I think right now, Mayuri believes he has figured out her Schrift ability completely. Which is why he seems so confident. But we all know he hasn’t. Pernida hasn’t used the true The Compulsory yet. I’m not sure even Mayuri can figure it out without losing. I’m expecting Shutara Senjumaru to save him.
