Naruto 696 shows Naruto’s weakness as he’s tired and nearly out of chakra when Sasuke pull his trump as he stores all of the Tailed Beasts chakra in Susanoo increasing its power tremendously. Sasuke calls himself the strongest shinobi alive, he has to kill Naruto due to the fact that he will always keep stopping. Naruto vows to fight the Sasuke he wants to bring back!
Naruto 696 begins as Naruto mentions that knowing that he wants to help he wants to kill him. Sasuke mentions that for this reason he needs to kill him. Naruto tries to talk to Sasuke mentioning that even if he created a new world, the same thing could happen. That is why he will look over it he mentions. Naruto mentions that the five villages have unified.
Sasuke mentions that this happened because they had a common enemy such as the Akatsuki, Madara, Obito and Kaguya. In order to survive they had to unify. However now there i no common enemy, thus villages will once again separate. This is the reason why Sasuke is planning on becoming this common enemy. He calls himself a Hokage since he’s indirectly leading to a unified world.
They split up and begin their battle once more, Sasuke mentions that he won’t be able to attack him at such a level. Naruto mentions that he doesn’t want to kill him. Naruto goes to say something when he’s interrupted by Sasuke as he brings the Tailed Beasts to him and takes their chakra.
Sasuke mentions that he’s currently the most powerful person in this world, and so he shall now take his first step into the shadows. Kurama tells Naruto that he’s combining all the chakra, and that it’s going to get worse. He’s practically at the level of the Hagoromo.
On top of this, there is no Gedo Statue, so he’s putting all the chakra into Susanoo, whats going to happen next is something serious, Naruto cannot flinch in this situation. We see a Susanoo’s body form and intertwine into a body which is made up of the chakra of the Tailed beasts.
Naruto creates clones when Sasuke mentions that it’s the technique and symbol of his weakness. That technique is simply a channel for his loneliness. Susanoo quickly attacks him, and drops to the ground. All the other clones attack Susanoo, but they’re blocked and attacked back. They then create Bijuu Dama.
They’re shot, a large electrical explosion occurs which does nothing to Sasuke. Sasuke mentions that Naruto has no chakra to create more Bijuu Dama, he cannot defeat him in this form. Sasuke gets a crossbow and begins to pull back his bow.
While Naruto entrusts another Kurama clone that had landed to give him some chakra as he was absorbing natural energy. It explodes and Naruto feels it’s power. Sasuke also notices that he has enough power to finally deal a killing blow on him. Naruto creates a Rasengan and a Bijuu like attack mixed with Rasengan.
Naruto goes ahead to think about the past when he mentions that he wants to fight Sasuke properly, defeating him properly. However he doesn’t want to fight him the way he his now when Naruto and Sasuke both release their attacks. Naruto 696 ends here, 4 more chapters left!
A fantastic chapter, it’s getting good, plus Sasuke seems like the most powerful person in the whole world. It’s incredible. It’s definitely really awesome to see Naruto and Sasuke battle it as we continue into next week’s Naruto 697 chapter!

That is certainly a good way of putting it. Naruto is certainly not weak and can fight against Sasuke. However if Sasuke goes berserk he will certainly kill Naruto. Hopefully he doesn’t go mad!

Yeah the fight is starting, and the fact that some pages are just a massive unknown with whats going on moment shows how much power and strength is being shown here.

Seriously it irritates me a lot when sasuke keeps on getting more power up. Bloody kishi n his favoritism! T’d be a total waste of time, if Naruto doesn’t qain a power up, beat sasuke effortlessly to the brink of death.. whereby surpassing Hagoromo! Then maybe later use talk no jutsu to bring him to light! or better still kill him! Naruto is a selfless person n can never be intoxicated wif too much power

i think d anime did end in next four chapters, all our questions will never be answered. will naruto become hokage? who would naruto marry? would his kids become a villian or hero? will sakura become like tsunade? would we see d full face of kakashi? would kakashi fall in love? alot of questions so i guess kishi may just end d fight within d next four chapters den it wud b a war-free chapters later on nd d answer to all questions

i like sasuke frm d start buh him qatherin d taild beast power is confusin back then he wanted to kill them all aqainst the ten tails and now he’s keepin them for his own personal use how stupid……
And i dnt think the manqa wil end in 4 weeks time cause naruto is about to start his own battle buh for him to defeat d current sasuke kishi must have done some unclean job

My comment is really late in this particular thread (sorry I just found this place), but I could not agree more. If I had a dollar for everytime I felt like Kishi’s favorite character was really Sasuke, I’d be rich. Sasuke was allowed to beat up on Naruto all throughout the series, but as soon as Naruto is more powerful than Sasuke he isn’t allowed to do anything to him. I am referring to their fight that took place shortly after Naruto vs Pein. Sasuke was almost completely blind and unable to use the Sharingan (hardly a match for anyone, let alone Naruto), and instead of just mopping the floor with Sasuke with Sage Mode, Naruto decides to clash with him using normal Rasengan.
I understand that letting Naruto beat Sasuke at that point and then dragging him back to Konoha changes the story dramatically, but he could’ve been allowed to open at least a little can of whoopass before Obito and Zetsu manage to save Sasuke. But for whatever reason Kishi just does not want Naruto to beat Sasuke EVER. Even their final fight ends in a tie, as Sasuke is given certain advantages in order to be able to match Naruto, who is pretty much the Juubi jinchuriki at that point on top of having Hagoromo’s chakra.

Oh man, I totally agree with you, it does seem that way. However on top of it all, it just seemed like Kishi wanted to finish at a certain number of chapter, and either sped through a few things or slowed it all down. Nevertheless, I liked how it ended, it was a little abrupt but it was all good, I can see why he introduced the kids right away.

Yeah the story did have a decent end and I REALLY enjoyed seeing all the relationships finally formed after years of people shipping characters, although the final fight was far from my favorite in the series. I hope the anime does it justice with some well placed and well thought out filler. And please God don’t let it be a tragedy like the 6 Tails vs Pein filler.

I just, I just don’t want more fillers from the show. I really just want them to stop shipping the show if they haven’t finished a canon episode. Similar to what happened to Fairy Tail, I really don’t mind them stopping the show. But as the manga is over, I just want them to stop with all this filler crap and concentrate on the actual story line, there is no need to delay it even more!

I hate non-canon related filler arcs and skip them whenever they come up. The filler I’m speaking of is when they extend fights by adding sequences that didn’t actually happen. E.g. Kakashi vs Kakuzu, Kakashi vs Obito, 6 Tails vs Pein… I think Jira vs Pein had a little filler as well. My all time favorite is Bleach’s Ichigo vs Grimmjow pt 2, and Naruto vs Pein is definitely the worst. I simply can’t stomach the Superman abilities Pein was given.

Ichigo vs Grimmjow was such a godly fight, so was Ichigo vs Ulquiorra when he went all Hollow and wooped his ass. Pain is rather unique, he fought for very specific reasons and it became clear when he talked to Naruto at the end. We learned a lot from it and even saw how good Nagato was, and what he was trying to strive for.
